Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

WHAT IS MBSR?

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course was designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn over 40 years ago to help people to manage stress and other challenges.  It arises from the contemplative methods used by many world religions and philosophies but is a secular course in meditation.  It has been the source of many other mindfulness courses available today.  There is extensive scientific research showing the benefits of mindful meditation.  That said, it isn’t suitable for everyone.

Who this course is suitable for:

This course is for anyone who wants to learn about how to practise mindful meditation.

It is particularly suitable for people who are struggling with anxiety or other negative emotions or who are wanting to manage stress more effectively.  There is much scientific evidence for the benefits of mindfulness in the management of mental states and negative mental habits including anxiety, stress and depression.

However, mindful meditation can enrich the life of anyone, we don’t have to be struggling to benefit from the practice.

What you will gain from this course:

  • an understanding of the fundamental elements of mindfulness meditation and how regular practice can transform your life

  • an awareness of the way the mind jumps into an “autopilot” mode, and ways of addressing this helpfully

  • a better understanding of how stress works in the human body and can be managed more successfully

  • an exploration of how the pleasures of day to day experience can be appreciated more

The course works by learning through doing – you will spend a lot of time practising during the sessions, and you will be invited to practise daily on your own and so generate new habits

The full course fee is £320.   But an

early bird price of £280
